Grace Kawala

Grace is a disability rights advocate from Kenya, a governance scholar & the disability inclusion intern at the African Leadership University. She is a YALI Alumni 2022 and the Disability inclusion assistant at the League of persons with special abilities – a local OPD.

Throughout her academic and work journey, she has gained invaluable experience as a researcher working with reputable international and local organizations such as the World Bank Kenya, and Motivation Charitable trust. Some of her research works focused on poverty alleviation, social welfare, and the effectiveness of cash transfer programs. In addition, her advocacy work in the disability sector has seen her represent her country in various national and international forums such as the global disability mini summit and the Inclusive Education Workshop in Africa held by the World Bank & UNICEF.

Moreover, In her efforts to promote disability inclusion in workplaces as one of the strategies to alleviate poverty among PWDs, Grace is in the process of registering an OPD that will provide specialized disability inclusion training based on the inclusion needs of an organization in Kenya.
