Budget Analysis

Government spending is how policies and commitments become reality. Thus, budget analysis can be a critical tool to monitor the fulfillment of national and international commitments towards ensuring, protecting, and promoting equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for persons with disabilities. This analysis can reveal which policy areas related to persons with disabilities are prioritized, help identify the gaps between commitment and implementation, and suggest reforms to close these gaps. Disability Inclusion in the Care Agenda

People with disabilities have greater care and support needs than people without disabilities, yet many of these needs go unmet. At the same time, women and girls, including those with disabilities, disproportionately provide unpaid care and support. There is a clear overlap between the disability and care sectors. Inclusive care policy should consider the needs of all persons involved in care relations. Read our recommendations for designing inclusive care systems at the link below.

Rethinking Disability Social Protection Policy

Overall, people with disabilities are more likely to be poor and face higher costs of living. Many people with disabilities struggle to cover these costs. Inclusive social protection policies ensure people with disabilities have the same opportunities to benefit from community inclusion as people without disabilities.
